Welcome to National Black Church Initiative
And The American Clinical Health Disparities Commission Clinical Trial Portal

NBCI and ACHDC are ushering in a new era of broadened engagement of African American and Latino communities in clinical trials. Particularly given the unethical and illegal behaviors involved with the Tuskegee Experiment and the intentional absence or lack of critical information for the involved subjects by governmental officials, NBCI engages in a comprehensive approach to utilize important lessons learned from historic medical abuses for generating robust interest in substantially improving clinical trial participation.

The goal of the NBCI Interactive Clinical Trials Portal is to improve the health outcomes of the African American and Latino communities by ensuring their awareness of critical features, benefits, and challenges of the clinical trials. This website offers scientific facts and data-driven information that may positively influence the viewpoints and feelings African Americans and Latinos may have regarding their participation in clinical trials. This website also attempts to demystify any misconceptions about clinical trials that African Americans and/or Latinos might have.

FDA to Require Diversity Plan for Clinical Trials

US regulatory agency is making a ‘big change’ to increase the number of participants from traditionally under-represented groups in drug testing. This will include African Americans, Latinos, and other minoritized communities to be involved in clinical trials. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will soon require researchers and companies seeking approval for late-stage clinical trials to submit a plan for ensuring diversity among trial participants.
